Brought back? There are still living short faced bear species today.

I have a Springfield 1873. It couldn't even defeat indians.
Does that count? |
|
Yea, naw I'm part of the modern era and use a round for modern men such as myself, the .348 Winchester.

Rolling block 45/70, Italian reproduction, good shooter. 525 grain cast slug over 70 grains of FFg black powder.
Ought to get the job done. Wouldn't care to take on two bears at once though! |

Id love one too but I wager something like that would be pricey. ~500 for a multiple shot lever action. ~2k+ For a single shot. Hmmm. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

In 2016 Walmart was discontinuing the M1895 for $295. With a $50 rebate I got mine for $249. I also bought 100 rounds of ammo for it. Sadly, it’s all still NIB as I’ve never shot it. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I've had a 45-70 for so long that I don't even remember the last time I shot it. Maybe before I joined ARF.

The polar/ grizzly hybrids showing up in Alaska are convincing enough for a big bore lever gun.

I just want Grizzly season to finally open here.
We can set set up the Short Faced Bear season later. |

Hmmm.. I've had a Marlin .45-70 for a couple of decades,Haven't shot it in 5 years or so though. I need to get the barrel threaded and put the hybrid on it. I'm pretty sure a subsonic .45-70 round would still be plenty for our whitetails.
