Me too brother.

I had in my life at one time 3 1969 fastbacks, a 1966 fastback and a 1967 cougar .....all were under $3000 when I bought them, and most were sold at a loss given the amount of money I poured into them.

No I didn't.. I started working for Edelbrock in 2002 a little bit after he died..

I did meet and become friends with a LOT of racing legends..

I worked directly for Vic Edelbrock and his daughters.. They are the ones who drove the cars..
Had to deal with Carol Shelby on an almost weekly basis. Not the friendliest guy.

At Limerock one year we got George Follmer and Parnelli Jones togeather to talk about racing in the old days.. They spoke to a crowd for a few hours and then after we surprised them by bringing out both of their old race cars.. The cars were in race condition almost exactly how they were in the 60s (the best we could).. Then the old timers agreed to hop in their old cars and take them out in the track..

It was wet and we figured they would do a few laps waving to everyone..

That thought was crushed when the cars flew by the pits screaming at 8,500rpm and 130+mph.. Old guys ran half a dozen HOT laps..

Other than that I've met just about anyone who has ever got their name in a paper for racing that hasn't died yet..

Early Broncos, in stock or lightly modified form ONLY. I don't care for the rock crawlers people tear them up to build.

There is an old guy that shows up every year at a hunting camp down the road from ours in the Wenatchee mountains, driving an old teal green Bronco, stock on BFG A/Ts and a winch. I see him putting up forest trails and hillsides no problem at typical old guy speeds. It'll be sad when I no longer see that Bronco any more.

Saw one restored just like this a few years back. Asking price was $10K firm,  and it sold quickly.

I had the chance to buy one, around 1987 or 88.  It had been ridden very hard and put away wet, but was a legitimate Shotgun Boss.
I'm STILL kicking myself in the ass for not scraping enough together

edit:  I also came ~this close~ to buying a 427-powered '68 Stingray, around the same time.
If I'd only knew then what I know now...

This. My BIL rebuilt on just like this.  After he was killed, my sister was left with no life insurance or ability to pay bills so she sold it.

My other fave is my great grandmother's 63 Impala that looks just like this one...purely sentimental:
