I noticed it with myself. I registered in 2022 and all of the sudden I have thousands of posts I’ve never made.

I joined in '12 and didn't really post unless it was in one of the technical forums. Didn't really see GD for what it was, a land of debauchery, information, and political neophytes.
I liked it, so I stayed. And my post count went up. |

I myself are like a lot of people around here I suspect. We come and read much more than we post.
I came here for the technical info but with the times changing, unfortunately for the worst; I am now spending more time in GD. But yeah, I’ve been here for a little while. And learned a lot. So thank you. |

Obviously someone can join a Mustang car forum without owning a Mustang or even being interested in them. The fact that MOST posters are conservative makes perfect sense, but obviously there will be a LOT of libertarians and independents that are interested in the AR platform as well. As most members probably are conservatives, Democrats or left wingers who are interested in the AR platform are much less likely to enjoy the site, but as long as they follow the rules and refrain from trolling, there's nothing preventing them from registering and participating. This principle has ALWAYS been the case, since the formation of AR15.com back in the 1990s. The expectation that the membership of AR15.COM would be Christian Conservatives exclusively is a bizarre one, and is completely at odds with the founding principles and intent of the Avilas. |

You do realize the more people from ALL walks of life who are getting into ARs is a good thing, right? Or maybe it’s those of us who dislike trump over stabbing gun owners in the back? Does that make me a leftist liberal? Don't know about that one, Karl. It's a mixed bag. Some percentage may start questioning the political beliefs they have been taught, after learning that the AR isn't the evil, baby killing death machine they had been told it was. I've seen a few posters over the years state that they were in this category. Some percentage may suddenly realize that passing laws so that only the military and the cops can have certain types of weapons, goes against their ACAB/defund the police position. Seems to be some of that in the northwestern states, recently, and the left probably views them as something similar to how we tend to view FUDDs. Some percentage may retain some views that conservatives may find repulsive, but (unlike the looney left) have no compulsion to force those beliefs on others, and turn out to be strong supporters of the second amendment. I've noticed some of those in GD over the years. And some percentage will fall into the subversive, revolutionary ('guns are a necessary evil, to be discarded once they have served their purpose') category. Unfortunately, we will just have to wait and see which they turn out to be, as they discover what the second amendment means to them. |

Two years is solidly "fuck that" territory. Think about how many posts a new AR15 shooter might need in tech to... not have any more immediate questions. 50 or so? GD is the natural next step to BS with fellow gun nuts. Restricting everyone to tech during that wide gap between "I have questions about which is the loud end" and "I'm an actual SME with valuable input" would GD-ify tech. No bueno. It's all bandaid solutions. You want arf GD to not look like like arfchan, make a call about arfchan posters and scurry them off. Problem is, the whole internet is chan-ified now, and most of GD's prolific content creators would fall under that umbrella. So it's really too late to turn the place around. In the 1990s, it was common for people to have their email address publicly viewable with their posts on various forums. The ISP I originally used, was just a local BBS when I joined it, and their format for account names and email addresses was (first name).(last name). This turned out to be not such a great idea, once groups like Rosie O'Donnell's fanatical followers ventured forth in their internet holy war against anything Rosie told them was bad. |
