I think the thing most leftie gun grabbers fail to realize is that MOST gun/country folks built some form of zip gun when they were a kid.
Hell, I may or may not have made a really handy .410 bang stick when I was a tike. |

The old school trick was the zip gun. A kid would break off the antenna from an auto ( this is in the early 60's, cars had AM radios with an antenna mounted on a fender, were telescoping and made out of a metal tube) and fasten it to a block of wood. It shot .22 of course. Rig a trigger using a nail. The city gangs use these for years before other cheap hand guns appeared. View Quote |

I remember seeing this back in undergrad. To my knowledge you can't actually shoot it, without the gun destroying itself and what/who ever is holding it needing a couple bandaids afterwards.

An AR lower can be made from plate steel. It'll be ugly, but it can be done.

Which frankly completely surprise me. and I have fired several full power 357 Magnum loads through it. My favorite load however is a 148 grain cast wadcutter loaded with 2.8 grains of Bullseye powder. Very accurate and very quiet suppressed. |

Zip guns are verboten in the buckeye state. View Quote (G) "Zip-gun" means any of the following: (1) Any firearm of crude and extemporized manufacture; (2) Any device, including without limitation a starter's pistol, that is not designed as a firearm, but that is specially adapted for use as a firearm; (3) Any industrial tool, signalling device, or safety device, that is not designed as a firearm, but that as designed is capable of use as such, when possessed, carried, or used as a firearm. So, not forbidden, just have to be more than a piece of wood, a broken radio antenna, a rubber band, and a nail. Many of which I may or may not have made in the days of my misbegotten youth. An 80% ar is not a zip gun because it is not of crude and extemporized manufacture. |

Can't stop the signal! It's time we challenge ourselves to fabricate a "liberator" style pistol from readily available items from hardware stores. Even better it all comes from big box stores. Complexity for building and assembly should be on a middle tier basis. Function > appearance View Quote Well some kids did that in the movie "Hope and Glory" with a vice grip, nail, and a hammer. Although technically the bullet wouldn't have fired the way it did, since it didn't have a barrel to shape and direct the flight. |
