Yeah, these guys had squat, not even a compass, as you know the distance to Catalina looks deceiving, it looks like it's only a few miles away on a clear day. We recovered one jetski in the Well Deck but the guy that the SAR bird picked up was shit out of luck, so they got to pay for the lost ski too. They were damn lucky, vis was about one mile, the first guy ran into us out of blind luck.

Not really

Isle of Man has had only 375 cases of COVID and only 25 deaths thoughout the whole pandemic.

They currently have about 6 active cases for a population of 84,000 and they want to keep it that way.

As a result the economy is pretty much open, including bars and nightclubs.

Contrast that with the UK mainland which has much higher rates of infection and is in various states of low level lockdown which is impacting on business and you can see why the IOM Govt are trying to keep a lid on it.

He was refused entry to the IOM and then decided to do the whole "illegal immigrant" thing as far as they were concerned and sneak in. Hence their reaction.

Ballsy, perhaps stupid and dangerous move on his part to head out to the IOM in the dead of winter in the Irish Sea. That's a bloody cold, and often rough bit of water where even the ferries don't sail in some winter weather conditions.

I've done stupid, drive across the county on a motorcycle in the rain, skateboarded 10-15 miles. (not same event) but never life threatening stupid. I think "love" is the wrong word too, at least in my case.
