I dont have any braces myself as i SBR'D all the things. I think braces are awesome though. Apparently the dems have caught on to them. When the dems take power again, you will be ass deep in new antigun laws. Ammunition registration, universal background cgecks, probanly a ban on mail order ammo / reloading supplies like california and new york already have... Not to mention a nice fat assault weapon ban that targets tactical rifles, semi shotguns, and rifle caliber pistols and braces.

The time to stock up is now.

https://www.guns.com/news/2019/01/10/dems-introduce-new-federal-assault-weapon-ban-that-includes-pistol-braces

Besides outlawing 205 gun models by name — Feinstein’s original 1994 ban only listed around 20 specific models — the proposal would also define an “assault weapon” as a semi-automatic with a detachable magazine that included one of a list of cosmetic features that are deemed “military characteristics” such as a threaded barrel, pistol grip or folding stock. This is less lenient than the previous ban which allowed a “features test” that included two such characteristics.

In addition, the measure would expand federal law to ban adjustable stocks, Thordsen-style stocks such as used in “featureless rifles” marketed in states like California, “assault pistols” that weight more than 50-ounces when unloaded, and popular pistol stabilizing braces that have become widespread in recent years.  Detachable magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds would be prohibited from transfer and guns grandfathered when the ban takes effect would be required to be locked up when not in use. A background check would be mandatory for future sale or gifting of grandfathered guns, even between two private parties.

We know, but the assault weapons ban in question ain't going nowhere. I'm doubtful it would even pass with a dem president. It didn't last time, even after the knee jerk emotional response of 20 children getting killed at school. I see no reason to believe it could not be stopped again even with a regime change. We'll just have to work for it again like we did last time.

This is the attitude that will get us all in trouble. Are you a gun grabber? I have heard the exact same argument from people that are exposed to be gun grabbers.
If you are not, I apologize, but I warn you. This is the mindset they want and will attempt to cultivate. Be ever vigilant and never, ever trust the democrats.

all they need to do is redefine them by weight like was done in 1994

semi-automatic pistols with a detachable magazine and at least two of these features: a magazine that attaches outside the pistol grip, a threaded barrel, a barrel shroud, or an unloaded weight of 50 ounces or more.

It’s no surprise they’ll propose banning everything. Stay vigilant. Do the best you can at the ballot box. Do not comply.

Braces are the next bumpstock.

They are allowed based on an ATF letter.  That can change overnight.

I love my braces, but... shit, I know I won't be an old man and still have them.

Like 30 round magazines pistol braces are just a gimmicky toy.  Even if it passes Congress Trump will veto it and protect pistol brace owners.

I'm thinking braces can be cited as ADA accommodations.  That said, we should really rally Antifa against the Dems.  They're young, unemployed (for the most part) and have time to waste protesting at the elected representative's office.

There are plenty of 2A supporting members on this site that will be ok with either of those items being banned. Check any bumpstock thread within the past 6-12 months for reference.

After all that complicated stuff that ban gets down to simply banning the receivers of assault rifles.

They'd probably end up interpreting that like ATF 'always a pistol' but who knows.

Considering that the ADA is a democratic policy it will be hard for them to push for a total ban on braces because they do serve a legitimate purpose for one of their favored demographics.  They may be able to force "some" of the braces off the market that function poorly as an actual brace but it will be hard to ban all braces when some, such as the tailhook, actually do a good job of allowing the pistol to be fired with one hand.

Do you realize how behind the times you are?

Feinstein switched her bills to 'any one of these features', instead of 'at least two of these features', over a decade ago.

Lol.  People will generally comply with giving up one thing, maybe two.  But when you outlaw someone's entire collection, I'm pretty sure there will be non-compliance, and even conversions to even illegal-er configurations because fuck it, at that point.

What a bunch of dipshits.

Dems declaring a Nat’l Emergency and banning guns or doing a confiscation would be the biggest gift to gun owners ever. A slow boil assures little to no resistance, a National emergency would garner more.... attention.

The way gun owners are divided and with no help from the NRA we are one mass shooting away from having everything banned. It will not matter if you do not comply. Try enjoying you bump stock at the range. Don't even let your neighbor see you loading your Brace that looks like a short rifle in your trunk. Yes, we are fucked even if you save your family's life in a legal shoot using a brace, you will go to jail. I wish we as gun owners will change but I just don't see it.
