That movie I thought was meh.

Everytime I see that movie brought up, I think of a different movie with a kid in a Japanese pow camp. Can't remember the name of it.

It was OK until the brother man went on his SJW speech about his people. I guess all movies these days have to by contract have some PC bullshit.

Thank you! Need to write that down!

Haven't seen it in years but thought it was a good movie.

One of my recurring nightmares is being in the gun fight in the grove near the end of the movie. It’s still preferable to the nightmare where I’m being chased down West Congress Street in Savannah by a T-Rex.

uxb's Tears of the Sun.

Team meets Monica Belluci.

She refuses to board helo.

Bruce Willis grabs her around the waist and throws her over his shoulder.

Doc shoots her in the ass with Ketamine.

Willis carries her to the chopper.

They all fly off, mission accomplished.

Everyone else can remain in Africa, doing what Africa does best.

And let's face it, this is how it would have happened real world as well.

Back in the team room playing xbox in 30 minutes.

Other than the backward-mounted Aimpoint it was a fun movie.

Did I get in before the "atchually they wouldn't go off mission, blah, blah, blah?)

It was enjoyable overall and had its moments like clearing the village and the ending firefight.

I find it hilarious though how Antoine Fuqua wanted to direct something featuring strong Africans and then made a movie that basically epitomized the White man's burden. In the middle of a military coup a bunch of able bodied Nigerians hang out at a Catholic mission a mere two days from the Cameroon border until the White Americans show up to motivate them to take a walk through the jungle to safety.

Hurt Locker was (one of if not) the worst “combat” films ever made.

There were only two realistic moments in the entire film:

1.  Iraqi kid selling porn.
2.  The cereal aisle scene.

Quoted:I'm with you concerning TotS not being as good as it once was, especially when compared to newer flicks like American Sniper and 13 Hours, but you "loved" The Hurt Locker???

I knew the EOD guys would be portrayed as the ultimate bad asses that could accomplish anything, but that was just a bad movie all around. Shit storyline, terrible acting, JV-level writing...utter shit.

It was a lot of fun to reset it during the Biafra crisis with Vietnam era SEALs in a tabletop RPG I ran.  A lot of the shit going on in the movie kinda happened when Biafra tried to secede.

I made two big plot changes.

First it's weather that keeps them from using the helicopters to escape.

Second the CO of Oriskany was part of the mission and gave what support he could considering she was on her way back from Yankee station and most of her ordnance would have been transferred to a ship staying on the line.

The players enjoyed it a lot and didn't even notice I'd cribbed the plot from the movie until we sat down to watch a post-game screening!
