My gf is looking for a car and we found a 2009 Sentra with 2k miles for 13500. It has the cvt and it's my only real concern with the car. Only because it is different than what I am used to. The car runs and drives great. Good power for a 4 banger and a smooth ride. I know the 07 and 08 models had a recall for the master cylinder but that shouldn't be a problem on the 09's. Anyone have any experience with these or Nissan's CVT in general?
I posted in the car forum but figure i would get more hits here. ETA Carfax checks out and I have looked the car over to the best of my knowledge |

ETA Carfax checks out and I have looked the car over to the best of my knowledge All I know is that every Sentra before this body style that I've driven or worked on has had major issues. I've driven a couple of the CVTs and SE-R Spec Vs and they are fun cars. The one thing I did notice was a lot of transmission and road noise but then again I'm really picky. Personally, unless I was getting a Maxima or G37 I wouldn't buy another Nissan. |

I have a 2003 Sentra 2.5 with 50,000 miles on it. Had to take it in for a couple recalls the first couple years. The only money I have spent on it was a new battery at the 5-year mark, new tires a few months back and 6 or 7 oil changes. Very reliable car so far. I don't baby my cars, oil change every 7,500 miles or 12-months, whatever comes first.
I'm not really fond of the new body style, smaller engine and CVT. So I'm glad i got the prior generation. |
| My wife drives a 2007 Maxima with the CVT. Right at 40k an no issues. It does have a different "feel" to it. It's odd to not have the RPMs vary while accelerating. I have a Titan, no problems. Prior to the Maxima, we had a 1993 Altima. The Altima had 215k when I sold it. Replaced CV axles, alternator, and clutch over the 215k miles. The A\C still worked when I sold it. Best car I have ever owned. |
