eta  To visualize higher dimensions, consider a Japanese tea garden, where carp spend their entire lives swimming on the bottom of a shallow pond. The carp are only vaguely aware of a world beyond the surface. To a carp “scientist,” the universe only consists of two dimensions, length and width. There is no such thing as “height.” In fact, they are incapable of imagining a third dimension beyond the pond. The word “up” has no meaning for them. Who knows what kind of awesomeness we could unleash with a unified field theory... And, basically, everything else that is not an unmodified rock, stick, or animal. (Cast a wide net, and consider any chemist or engineer to be a theoretical physicist...with a slightly less vivid imagination.) Electricity, heat engines...pretty much everything that goes on in the modern world. It's a pretty decent video. I might use that when describing dimensional space in class next year. |

I think that dimensions 7 through 10 are a little overdrawn. Another way to look at these concepts would be that the 4th D is Time- polarized time that allows 2 time and matter reversed universes. 5th D would be eternity- containing all of polarized time within it. and 6th D would be creation- negative energy for continous re-creation to alow matter to exist w/o violating conservation of energy.
String theory is as off-center as Ernst Match's opinion on the Michelson-Morley failure. |
