My dad bought one of their drill rifles. (think they still have them? $200?) He had a local gun smith replace the barrel, remove the weld off the bolt release on the receiver and headspaced with a new bolt. Made a great shooter!

Modern de-mills destroy the firearm for any use other than a wall-hanger.

However, I have seen older de-mills (as per spec at the time) that were reversible.

I wouldn't shoot any formerly de-milled firearm that had any welding done anywhere near the barrel/receiver junction.

You could carefully remove such welding, but the heat-treatment of the receiver/barrel at such a critical juncture might have been compromised by the welding done in the de-milling process.

OTOH, if a bolt-handle was carefully spot-welded at the root of the bolt handle in order to de-mill a rifle, that might be OK to re-mill.

Of course, the preceeding remarks are not intended to circumvent any appliciple laws.
