I'm helping a friend remove the engine from his 78 firebird. Everything is out except for removing the bellhousing bolts. What's the best way to get to these?

Slim hands and one of those worth its weight in gold non skewed 9/16 boxed end wrenches.

Auto trans?
To get good access to the bell housing bolts you should drop the rear of the trans as low as you can by removing the cross-member (if possible) and/or the trans mount. Lifting the front of the motor -slightly- under the harmonic balancer will help tilt the trans down in the rear. Then use a very long 3 1/2 foot extension and a swivel socket.

The rest are out. That one bolt looks like the head is stripped off.
