Hi Guys,

Maybe looking at a 2002 7.3 Powerstroke F-250.
Truck has 75,000 miles on it.... 4 wheel drive, automatic trans..... one owner.
Don't know maintenance history yet.

What should I look for both on the truck and in the way of service records??
Any specific problem areas that I should know about??

Thanks for any help!!

Ball joints for slop, check air induction and compressor (turbo) for mods, dust\dirt ingestion, make sure it starts and runs good when cold.

ETA: oil changes every 5k, fuel filters every 15k, trans flush every 30k,  coolant (gold) 60k (green) 30k ––02 could have either depending on build date and location––

Super year for that truck....they went downhill from there. Not the most powerful but certainly a workhorse.  If everything checked out, i would jump on it.

That frequent? I would have guessed at least 7500mi.

It's a PMR rod truck so be careful with the mods if you plan to do that..

Look down in the valley of the engine just past the filter housing for pooled oil. It's common for the 7.3 to leak at the turbo base and pedistal. If you can take it to a place that can hook it up and do a contribution test, and buzz the injectors. Take the intake tract off at the turbo and look at the vains (spelling?) check them and see if the edges are sharp, or have been "blasted" by dirt. Grab the shaft of the turbo wheel and check for play it may have a little.

Look at the housing of the turbo for contact from the wheel..

It's a bad ass truck!!

I love mine, it's an 01 with 175,000 miles on it, it runs like a top...

Go to powerstrokenation.net and find the forum for "Oasis"

you can post your VIN and the guy will get a full OASIS Report on your truck for you. This will include ANY warrenty work that was done on the truck.  Fun to check anyhow. I found out mine got a new transmission just 4 months before I purchased it. Lucky me I guess..
