That chart illustrates exactly why Illinois has so many anti-gun politicians but continues to push back the anti-gun legislation year after year. It seems as if only 3 or 4 states have more NICS checks. Lots of gun owners.

That said, way to go Kentucky! You make us all proud!

According to a state-by-state breakdown of the FBI data, more checks were requested by gun dealers and authorities in Kentucky — 2.3 million — than from any other state so far this year. However, the Kentucky total is likely higher than other states because in addition to checks conducted for new sales at licensed gun dealers, concealed weapon permit holders can be subject to monthly updated background checks, Kentucky State Police Sgt. Rick Saint-Blancard said.
