8 / 54 After feeling increasingly good for a couple days while taking steroids along with antibiotics I dipped back down for several days once the steroids started working their way out of my system but the antibiotics were still working. This morning it seems that things might be starting to trend back up again. |

Stupidly, I’m on a 12 day streak. Ran one of my highest mileage weeks (excluding my 2 ultras). Shins are just a bit tender but feeling pretty good other wise! What streak day are you on and do you have a minimum mileage to maintain your streak you like to keep up with? |

This may be a small to alot of you but I'm going for 150 miles this year. I'm not much of runner. I've tried in the past and never stay consistent enough to make progress. Currently doing 1 mile every couple days around the property and feel so winded. 5'11 & 195lbs.. I would love one day to be able to run 4-5 miles without stopping. After 1 mile I'm so darn winded. I'll take any tips.. Here's some accountability for me. Let's go! 1/3 |

When walking the mile get easier bump it up to 2 and so on. I was 6’ 260 lbs on 5/3/25 Took me an hour to walk 3 miles My heart rate would get in the red with any effort beyond walking pace. But I kept at it. I just kept walking it day after day until I could toss in a little light jogging for maybe 30 seconds at a time. It ain’t no marathon pace but from where I was then to where I’m at now makes me feel really damn good. I’m competing against myself and myself only. This was the beginning Attached File This is now at 192 lbs Attached File |

Let's go! 1/3 Also, there are lots of approaches to "getting more miles" when youre starting off. Some folks do the "one more step" method, where they always make sure that todays run is very slightly longer than yesterday's. Some people follow couch-to-5k plans. Honestly, i dont think you need any of that. Just get out there and run 2 or 3 times a week. Walk if you want to. Run slow if you are tired. Doesnt matter. Running builds on itself so quickly that you will become totally absorbed by each accomplishment. I couldnt run a quarter mile in June, but im training for a half marathon now. The question in my head is not whether Ill finish it, but rather if the conditions will be right for me to get it done in under 2 hours. There are plenty of us here that are new to this, you arent alone here. |

Don’t compare yourself to other runners. I ran my fastest 10k 6 months after I started running. I don’t think I could run that fast right now. But I can run longer distances now. Just keep after it. Strength train if you can. I was never a runner either. Slacked off in the gym here and there. I did 75 hard a couple years ago and that’s what got me into running. I’m addicted. Good luck on your 150 miles! I’ll also add sometimes you gotta just push through. I have several runs sometimes it takes me up to mile 5-6 to feel “in the groove”. I just went to the basement treadmill for a quick 5 miles and ended up running 10. |

Today was day 375 of my run streak, which is impressive until I remember that Keen is on like year 6. I try to keep weekly mileage in the 70-80 range rather than doing a daily minimum, but if I had to put a number on it at least 8 miles per day. Sometimes on a day when I’m slow out of bed I’ll do 6-7 as a zone 2 run so at least I get the time. |

10.5 / 35.2 I'm doing a few shorter runs during the week and a long one on Sat as train-up for an upcoming half. I'm sure that I can do it in 2.5 hrs, so I'm shooting to break 2 hrs which would be a PR for me. I keep thinking that my total should be greater than it is, then I realize how early we are in the year. It's been a long year already, not related to running of course. |

Let's go! 1/3 As others have mentioned, the first few weeks are rough. Looking at my heart rate for some of my earlier runs at my age would have alarmed any cardiologist. If it is important to you, stick with it. Make time for it. Or put it on a schedule with high priority. And dont worry about pace. It's a personal endeavor vs the prior you and not against others right now (save that for race day). If you stick to that 1 mile every other day and do not stop regardless how long it takes, it will get easier. Guaranteed. After a few weeks, maybe bump up to 1.5 miles. Get comfortable there and slowly progress to the 4+ goal. I would not jump directly to the 4+ mile goal. You will not be able to do it right now and that will discourage you. The other likelihood is that the effort may be more than your bones, joints, muscles are used to which will sabotage your next run and throw you off schedule. |

Assuming this is your first longer race, if you can go 10 at your desired pace then I would be confident you can do another three. |

If you can do that the entire thing at that pace well within reach. For reference, a big workout for me aiming at a HM would get me 6-7x 1 mile at half marathon effort with 3-4 minutes of recovery between each one. |

When I was done, I felt better and worse at the same time. Beats the hell out of laying in bed, where I felt like trash AND hadnt gotten anything done. Afterwards, I went back to bed and at least felt good about the run. It might have helped my recovery, even. |

Sketchy with a fever like that, but I get this. Sick with a stomach bug, wait until mid afternoon when I'm feeling almost human and the wife goes to pick up kids from school to sneak out for a streak-saver mile... |

9.58 / 87 ![]() Workout today. 10 minutes then 8 minutes at old marathon pace, then 6 and 4 minutes at once-I-build-my-fitness-back marathon pace with 2 minute recoveries between everything. Feeling better and better on each run. |

But I was sick during Christmas for several days so I called this sicknesses bluff. lol. What is your method of keeping track of al your paces? Spreadsheets or just up in the noggin? |
