That's the number of holes the ground crews had to repair in a B-17 my grandfather returned from one mission on. It was either Koblenz or Cologne. He relayed this to me about an hour ago, though I can remember him stating it before. He said they usually had the planes patched up overnight for the next day, but this one took two days to patch up. 267. He might have to think for a minute to tell you what he had for breakfast this morning, but it's amazing the things you'll remember from 66 years ago. |
