why do i get the idea that this movie is going to be crap. nothing but CGI effects and a complete dismissal of the real story. |
From the bits and pieces I've seen from the trailer... Their bottom line of "Dont' fuck with our freedom" seems pretty good to me. |
The MOLON LABE scene is in the movie, but in english. There's no way to do the Battle of Thermopylae and not "fuck with it" cause there's no evidence or record of exactly what happened. I mean, if you actually believe what Herodotus wrote about the battle, it wasn't 300 vs a million, it was 300 plus 4900 others vs. over 5 million. I say if the movie is like the trailers it will be awesome. I don't see how a few freaks of nature and some 10-second scenes with over-sized rhinos & elephants can do anything more than add to the intensity of the movie. I guess we have to wait and see this weekend. |

It is based somewhat loosely on Frank Miller's 1998 comic book mini-series. Changes from history were made by Miller and Snyder so as to appeal to a wider audience and create a more exciting and visually stunning action movie, rather than a typical historical epic. # Frank Miller was inspired by the original Battle of Thermopylae after viewing the 1962 film "The 300 Spartans" as a child. His perception of the 'hero' concept changed greatly after seeing the Spartans make their sacrifice. |
