CF-Nylon is PA6-CF or PA12-CF

Nylon is PA (PolyAmide, brand name Nylon), CF is Carbon Fiber.

Difference between PA6 and PA12 (I had to look this up):
PA6 (Polyamide 6) is made from a monomer (caprolactam) that contains a chain of 6 carbon atoms.

PA12 (Polyamide 12) is made from a monomer (laurolactam or similar precursor) that contains a chain of 12 carbon atoms.

PA6 and PA12 have different properties as far as heat resistance, strength, and ability to absorb moisture. Overall PA6-CF is the better of the 2 in regards to gun stuff.
I ain’t in no ways tired of winning yet!

OP, if you are going to print with carbon fiber filaments, get the hardened 0.6 hot end. Get two so you have a spare.

First print needs to be a Benchy. It’s a rite of passage.

No way. I have used dozens of resins, none of which would deal with that pressure. Even the toughness styles will bust from slight pressure. Most are considered "awesome" if they will let a mini figure fall off standard table height and survive.

Mine is in my garage.  There are ups and downs,  and some weird things to think about

1) No fume concerns
2) No noise, especially in overnight prints
3) ZERO chamber temp issues in summer!

Now for the bad!
4)  Have to set my bed temp at a minimum of 45*,  or it just sits there waiting for the bed to cool down (lol,  I spent way too long figuring that out!)
5)  Moisture control becomes more important

How loud is it, actually?  I was considering putting it in the basement where it's about 60 degrees all year.  However, in the summer humidity could be an issue.  I could put it in the office, but on the rare day I do a zoom call would it be too loud?  The office is next to the family room, so would it be annoying while watching television?

It will not be loud enough to really bother or be noticeable to people on a zoom call. It might annoy you.  Mine is in my office and I'm about to have a Teams call with it on.

Yeah, I run mine in the garage when I'm doing ABS/ASA/PA6.  To keep everything dry, I run the filaments in the Sunlu S4 Pro dryer.  I have the PTFE tube coming out of the rubber grommet there, coupled directly to the PTFE bowden tube on the printer, so there's virtually no chance for the filament to even touch 'regular' non-dried air before hitting the hot-end.

FWIW.

@Martlet I did my call on speaker, printer was four feet from me, Bambu P1S with AMS and a drier, there were lots of fans running plus the motion of the printer. No one noticed anything.

For humidity, most AMS systems have heaters you can add now and everyone uses them. However if you're just using PLA I would not worry about it as long as you use the firmament up in a month or two  or store it somewhere a little less humid. I've used PLA that has been sitting out for over a year with no issues but it did seem more brittle. If your printer is something like an Ender 3 or a printer that prints from a spool sitting out in the open, or if you're using the external spool feature on a Bambu (required for some fancy filaments) then you can get a little box heater / dryer for around 30 dollars. You will need this anyway as some of the fancy filaments suck up water and turn brittle rather quickly.

Modern printers are very quiet compared to back when I bought my first in 2017. Back then the stepper drivers would make you want to suck start a shotgun.

I have Teams calls with my Bambu P1S, QIDI Plus 3, and QIDI Plus 4 all within 2-10 feet from my computer.

Doesn't affect the calls at all.

The Bambu is the loudest of the bunch. The QIDI Plus 4 is the quietest because it's insulated and I'm usually printing with the top glass on.

The fans on my Voron are the loudest thing. This is also a Voron, I have 2 large external electronics fans, 2 fans in the nevermore filter, 4 fans in the chamber HEPA filter modules, 1 in for the hotend (silent), and 1 for part cooling (if being used).

But I didn't build this thing for stealth.

I understand that this is mostly a "me" problem but while those are the "best" choices they are complex, not intuitive, and just generally non user friendly for noobs.

I have been using Shapr3D and while it is not as feature packed as those others, I was actually able to learn/use it with minimal time/effort and there's nothing I've wanted to do that it has been unable to.

LOL, it sure sounds like it does! Actually, I forgot the fan I added for the toolhead (has CANBUS, so it keeps the PCB and extruder motor cool-er).
