Hi guys. The story is I purchased a fielded LMT stock and it was used by an 3rd GRP SF E-7. I am trying to do what i can to track its history. I know the soldier was deployed to Afghanistan and likely in 2012. It is such an honor to have something like this and i think it would be great to see what i can do to learn the history of where it may have been all the while learning more about the operations there.

What batallions from 3rd Group were in Afghanistan in 2012? Any info would be much appreciated!

You might wanna try and ask the guys over at Professional Soldiers... But tread lightly, introduce yourself in the proper thread before posting, the Team Sergeant likes to kick butt.

They were all over the place doing VSO missions that year.  Even if you knew what battalion, it wouldn't matter because they were scattered all over the RCs. Hell, even if you knew the specific ODA it may not matter because they may have been doing split team.  Just ask him if you can.

This.  I supported a 3rd group team deployed in that timeframe, most were doing VSO ops and spread out under different groups or even services.

The story on that stock may not be all that awesome.

I was embedded with 3325 for several months in Kapisa Province, no offense but a B5 sopmod stock from a SF operator isn't that big of a prized item, if you want I can get you a few more.

As far as tracking deployments, you'd have to talk with the guy first hand as that sorta info isn't just out there.....quiet professionals and all.
