So I got out of the Army in 1999 to go to Law School. Since I did not resign my commission I was put in the IRR. In the last month HRC St. Louis found me and asked me if I wanted to join a TPU organization. I expressed concern that I had not led troops in a while and that I was not in peak physical condition. The informed that I was laready in and that while I needed to comply with the requirments that was not a bar to me drilling. Also since the AR has no combat arms, and I am FA I have been put in a GSU. I have also been promoted, that was a pleasant surprise, and so I am now the S3 Air - Anyway the unit is drilling next weekend, going to the range at Fort Lost in the Woods. I was asked to be ranger OIC so I went to qualify today - shot 40/40 with the M16A2 - took me 9 rounds to zero - having not shot on a military range in 7 years - I was pleased. |
hey, great stuff!! <snaps to a salute!> ![]() I did the same thing a while ago.. (un officially) I picked up one of the "alt-c" 25 meter qualification targets and took it down the public range at Fort Hood. I set it up at 25 meters and with my "A1/Model 604" clone and I got 40/40. I used XM193 to zero and for the "qualification". 20 years later (on the same base I got my first expert) and now wearing glasses. I guess I can keep my Expert Badge.
