I'm on my second '06 4Runner Sport. They popped on constantly on my first one, never figured it out. They'd come on for a week or so, then disappear.
Happened for the first time on the second 4Runner I've had just under a year a couple weeks ago, and they haven't turned off yet. Any ideas? |

Its your gascap.. dont put on the cheap crap from autozone or poopboys. Buy the Toyota gascap and have them clear the codes... between myself and my friends we have 3 4runners. Mines a 2001 with
almost 200000 miles on it. Went through this one a couple times till I bought the OEM gascap. |

I frequently have this issue in my 2003.
Long run times or heavy working of the truck in high heat or very cold conditions cause the fault. Everything I have found online (and from a code reader) says its related to emissions controls. Was rear ended in 2012 and had the exhaust rebuilt. I believe there is a leak, that over time, causes the code. No long term issues though. The 4Runner always passes emissions without any issue. Going on 200k. I bought a cheap code reader from Amazon. I use it to check and then clear since it is always the same thing. |
