guy i know wants to sell me some 308 that is sealed in what looks like galvanized aluminum spam can, all it says on it is 7.62x51 in the top front, ball, on the bottom front, and what looks like a lot code on the front right. no nato stamp, no other info, any idea what the hell it is? i have never seen it before. and it doesn't look like the typical com block surplus or wolf shit, thanks all.

Sounds like Chinese to me. The only 7.62x51 in galvanized spam cans I've seen had Chinese in them.IIRC, it is corrosive. One number should be the date,87 through 92 maybe, somewhere in there? The other is a factory code.

could be, kinda looks that way from what i have read, the guy didnt want to open the tins up so i guess i have to take a shot, at .16 cents a round i guess its worth it. is the chineese lead or steel core? looks like from reading its pretty dirty.

Are the casings and bullets a matching copper color? If so, it's the Chinese stuff brought in years ago. Mine was in tins. wooden case, 1000rds.
I have about 5 cases of it left. Shoots good. Mine is non corrosive.
