Interesting life choices at 9. Seems odd that the GTA charge isn't a felony. View Quote Theft By Unlawful Taking & Unauthorized use of a Motor Vehicle The theft charge needs the value of the car to be above $1500 (if I remember right) for it to be a felony. Unauthorized Use needs to be your third time for it to be a felony. |

There are multiple versions of auto theft, and the names vary from place to place. Some of the versions depend on relationship to the owner, others to what the owner says happened, and willingness of the owner to prosecute. Here “grand theft” specifically means a felony. No idea about there. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

No GTA in Nebraska. Am I the only one that thinks the 'carring a concealed weapon charge' for having a pocket knife is a bit extreme? I carried a pocket knife when I was 9...but then I never stole cars. View Quote Being behind the wheel of a stole car spitting at the police pretty much guaranteed the charge though |

This kid has a bright future LOL https://www.1011now.com/content/news/Car-theft-crash-leads-ot-citations-for-Grand-Island-juvenile-512423031.html Police say the boy wasn't hurt and refused to get out of the car. Officers who broke in and took him out say he spit on them and used racial slurs. The nine-year-old was cited for Flight to Avoid Arrest, which is a felony. He was also cited for misdemeanor charges of carrying a concealed weapon (a knife), motor vehicle theft and assault on a police officer by spitting on him. Police officials say the boy was released to his parents as most juvenile facilities are not equipped to take someone that young. View Quote |

He did it again
The boy was briefly detained Sunday after a car was reported stolen. Officers soon spotted the car and tried to pull it over, but it sped off, crashing about 2 miles later. When police approached, they found the boy behind the wheel. He locked himself inside, and when police forced him out, they say the boy spat on them and hurled racial slurs at officers. Police returned the boy home, because Nebraska law says only children 11 and older can be held in detention. https://journalstar.com/news/state-and-regional/nebraska/year-old-nebraska-boy-who-stole-a-car-does-it/article_9f1303c4-35a5-5915-bcea-95d5330c4c67.html |

The boy needs his ass beat so hard he won't even THINK about sitting down for a solid week.
As often as necessary until he starts to get the picture. He's grown up in an environment that has never caused him to associate misbehavior with pain or other true discomfort. Until that changes he won't change his behavior. |

I'm glad he did it a 2nd time. Maybe he will get the punishment he deserves.
