I dont know how the 911 system works, but what would be the explanation for a call being placed to 911 from an iPhone and not getting an answer or a response. At all.

| Your call was connected but just rang and no one picked up? It shouldn't matter how the call was placed, cell phone, landline, etc. It is possible that it was an issue with high call volume in the comm center, or low staffing, or even a phone outage, though when those lines go down most centers have a routing system which would send calls to a neighboring county where a dispatcher would forward information to your 9-1-1 center by radio or electronically (TTY). Dispatchers are trained that 9-1-1 calls are a high priority (obviously), so your call should have been picked up barring some sort of major catastrophe or outage. |
