 I found an old laptop the other day and today I got a reader so I can recover a bunch of old pics of my son and family from his birth to ten years ago. A total blast from the past and a project I dedicated hours to to make sure I didn't miss a thing. Definitely a fun project. |

Yeah I agree, it's not as nice as I was hoping for. It's all part of the learning experience. The photos I saw from the other maker that sent me the scrap looked a bit better than how these are looking. I need to see how he finished them. This will be the only knife made with that material since I used all of it that he sent me. It does look better when wiped with oil. That's why I think a slick finish like tru-oil may make it look a bit better once complete. I will say it's very smooth now that it's sanded to 1000 grit. It'll slip very nicely into a pocket. I usually try to stick with G-10 or micarta. I'm probably going to order a few pieces from G.L. Hansen to use on at least one of these in the next batch but damn it's hard to pick out a single pattern from them. ETA: I definitely appreciate the feedback, it helps me gauge my styles. I get tunnel-vision on them since I spend hours working with each one. |
