I bought it 15 years or so ago?  From this knife shop that specialize in custom makers for the low low price of $79.  It's one solid piece construction of 440C, nothing exotic or earth shattering but the pointy end is pointy and edge is sharpened and sharp.  The handle is wrapped in katana style and lacquered.  According to the maker, Cold Steel bought the right to the design and made several variants.  It comes with a Kydex sheath and is a neat little neck knife.

I should take pics in more dramatic setting, tho.

It's synthetic, similar to shoe laces.  It's wrapped then lacquered on the blade.

some pictures in situ would help with sizing.

Or you can always just do a Kuraki; five hands, one hand, three fingers.

That looks closer to a traditional Japanese style tanto, right? I don't mind that. It's the American tantos that I think are stupid.

I actually prefer without.

I started out liking the fuller or cut outs aesthetically, but now that I have had a few, decided all they do is collect shit.  Fuzz, grease, dirt, food. No thanks.

I have been actively seeking the Shiros without the fuller. An Elmax 111 is on the list when I see the right one. I would prefer it in the CF, but doesn't look like they ever made any in Elmax and CF. At least not sold stateside. May have to settle for Vanax and CF if one comes along.

Which knife?

With Shiros I've noticed the cutting edge will always measure longer than the listed length, which is apparently measured from the furthest extent of the frame to the tip of the blade.

For example, the F95 is listed at 3.74".  And that is accurate if you measure from the furthest protrusion of the frame/handle/slab to the tip of the knife.

However, as old man Wisconsin demonstrated pages back the cutting edge will measure 4" or a little more.  I agree with the method that measures total protrusion from the handles as it matters for penetration when stabbing.

Others makers seem to do the opposite and I find their knives are actually shorter than listed.  I've also noticed some where I think they just do poor metric to standard conversions and seem to always be off by some amount (Reate, I'm looking at you) which is something I've also noticed with barrel lengths on European pistols.

The F95 is the only one I care for.  I always wanted to try a Three Bears version but in CT, the sharpened edge must be less than 4" to legally carry.  Thank you.

ummmm...Pretty sure the F95 is the F95 framelock. The Hati is the F95 version with an alternate material used for the show scale.

Since you are such a discerning well to do gentleman, I would be happy to sell you my unused perfect example of the F95R "T" at an above market exorbitant rate. Offer only valid for you.

Honestly though, and I can't speak for all of them, but my example is so perfect it is boring.  The action is perfect, fit and finish is perfect, the detail is perfect, the design is perfect, centering is perfect, the clip is perfect, the grind is perfect, the weight is perfect and the size is perfect.  They maximized the blade to handle ratio. Personally I like the size of the 111 and the liner lock a bit more, but I can see why the F95 is the best selling model for Shiro.  Mine is so perfect I am afraid to use it. I wouldn't think cutting edge length would be an issue for you. You could do worse than picking one up.

But you probably should add that to the list of reasons to move out of your oppressive state.

ETA: Those Russians are crazy... But you probably know that.
