I have been retired for 6 + years why wear a suit? I put on my old dress uniform for funerals. otherwise the best you get is dress slacks, shirt, and tie |

Amazing to me how many here bemoan the steady decline of western civilization, but seem to take great pride in not owning a suit. I no longer need one professionally, but I can't even begin to imagine going to a funeral or formal wedding in street clothes, fashionable or not. |

A nice, well-fitted suit is a pleasure to own and wear. Knowing you are putting your best foot forward in situations that merit it feels good. Playing the “what can I get away with” game with how you appear and present yourself in public is indicative of a malcontented disposition. That’s not to say you need to wear a suit all the time, but to brag that you *never* wear one? |

I have two, one is too small, from when I got married, and the other is from when I was really fat. I'm only sorta fat now so it's not presentable anymore. At the rate I'm losing weight though, the wedding one should be wearable within the year. I currently work in an IT roll that couldn't be any less client facing if I tried, so it's usually work boots, jeans, and either a T-shirt or Hawaiian shirt. Putting on a suit and taking your wife out to dinner once in a while is awesome, highly recommend it. |

| I have not been in a suit since my wedding almost 30yrs ago. I spent some time with our pastor and we had the talk about suits. I told him I associate suits with used car salemen,politicians and lawyers. Im proud to be a blue collar worker and earn an honest living with dirty hands. The clothes I wear to church are dressing up compared to what I wear everyday to work. We had the talk that God sees what is in your heart not the clothes you bought and John the baptist wore a coat of camels hair. |

I think every man should have one for a special occasion, a funeral, perhaps their own. Bought 8 new suits toward the end of 09 and the next day I left the corp world for good. Only one of them has been worn, two funerals. The others have just sat in the very plastic covers they came in all those years ago. |

| I've owned several suits over the years. I'm in my early 40's. I don't wear them to work. But I've worn them to church and funerals and weddings and job interviews and nice restaurants and clubs. Majority of my life it's just work clothes or t-shirt and jeans. Suits are typically a special occasion thing. I was surprised how many people don't wear suits anymore to church or funerals. Weddings it's still a must have. Job interviews or dates it often will seal the deal, ha |

Closest to a suit I own is my military Class A uniform. I've been out for over 20 years so there's really no appropriate reason to wear it. |

Every man should own a well fitting suit. You may only wear it occasionally, but there are always times when a suit is appropriate. It's very hard to overdress, and very easy to under dress certain events, so it's best to err on the side of caution rather than looking like a slob that doesn't have any respect for the event. |

For the record, I’m on a first name basis with the owner of the shop I go to. Which is also the only independent Hermes boutique in the U.S. But I’m also wearing absolutely destroyed wranglers, hey dudes and an old vintage 76 t shirt right now. I have 3 suits, 5 sport coats. I don’t do the whole cuff links things. I rarely wear ties. But, I think having a good black suit does everyone well when the situation calls for it. Unfortunately, sport coats have become part of my life when I moved from operations to C suite. Along with having a formal suit occasionally. Not my favorite, but looking the part doesn’t hurt. |

A suit really isn't hard to wear. There's no great mystery to it. And like it or not, you're often judged on NOT wearing one in a situation that calls for one. I wore suits for years for work. They were always just another uniform to me. Think of them as civilian Class A's. Even being retired, I still own two that fit and still wear them when the occasion calls for it. |

I judge him as it's Me! I've never owned a suit other than Dress Greens from the Army (worn 3x ) and one other blazer. I have 1 bolo tie. Khakis and a quality Hawaiian shirt ( Reyn Spooner, Kahala, Tori Richard ) is as formal as I get. I grew up on the coast, lived in Hawaii, So Cal and Arizona. Too hot for a suit. Work clothes were Scrubs most of my adult life. |
