I'm definately a new one when it comes to the AR15. I am looking to buy my first. Really like the M4 style and the Bushmaster (holding out for a preban) but... Flattop or not?
Opinions are welcomed. I can't make up my mind. Use will be mainly target (tactical shooting) as well as some varmint. Thanks

Easy choice - A3 flat top.

You can always hang a carry handle on it if you need later. The A3 allows for comfortable cheek welds with telescopic sights. If you want a tactical rifle either an Aimpoint Comp ML or Trijicon Reflex II will mount very nicely on the top rail.

I got an A2 and don't regret it. If you plan on using a scope get the flat top.
