Ugh, no thanks.  If they can't get the battery compartment somewhere between 4 and 6 o'clock, then why bother?

They should have created a mount that houses the battery a long time ago.

I'd be happy with something micro sized in the $300-$350 range. I don't need night vision compatible and I don't need to scuba dive with it. But something to fill the gap from better than a holosun to not having to spend T1/H1 prices.

Yea I wish aimpoint would have done something like that instead of the ACO.

I have a Lucid M7 on my Skorpion carbine, and I love it so far. I'd love an Aimpoint that uses AAA batteries. I've got plenty of rechargeable AAAs, and I could recharge them even if the electrical grid were down.

(I have a 15w compact solar panel with USB output and a charger that I can connect to USB)

I like the idea but make it AA so at least if you are using a AA powered weapon light like the surefire scout or the new stream light you aren't humping two different batteries around.

AAAs were the toughest batteries to get a hold of in the Army.

the battery choice is to make logistics easier on agencies like DSS which operate in remote locations and may have difficulty sourcing the 2032 battery.

A 50pk of 2032s will keep 50 optics turned on for a year.

A 50pk of AAAs won't last as long, will leak, get stolen for dude's headlamps & gps units, and will take a lot more fuel and space to get to remote locations.

That's the Bushnell TR-25 except it's $80 not 300-350.

They must have stockholm syndrome, because it's an obvious perfect place for a 123a battery. 123As also power everything else on a useful rifle, so.....

The Vortex Sparc AR houses a AAA battery in the mount/base. Very clear glass, too. I've been happy. Plus their warranty is hard to beat.

I have one, as well as PA and holosun. While it's never given me any issues I wouldn't put it on Aimpoints level.

I certainly wouldn't either. I have Aimpoint and TR-25.  I believe Aimpoints are tougher and better but they've both been good. The TR-25 I have works fine after taking the place of a piece of shit EOTech 552 that has suffered repeated recoil induced failures because it's garbage.  So I put Bushnell below Aimpoint but above EOTech.  Overall I'm really happy for $80.

well that looks useless the normal bat is good for 5 years it is not a logistical nightmare.
