I wrote those rectal orifices a strongly worded letter a few years back and in no uncertain terms demanded that both my wife and I be removed from their mailing and call list. They complied. |

Years ago it was a grass roots organization started by retired people to change the system and defend the elderly. Today it is a hollowed out shell, really a political action committe run in washington that "tells members where to protest and who to vote for and when". If you can believe it. When AARP started, it members "told the washington crowd what they expect to be done". Can you believe such a 180o reversal? I have relatives active in it, who are getting more and more disgusted. The only people who are getting active in the various committees now are idle rich people who want to establish their public service resumes so they can sit on more prestigeous boards. Pathetic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
I have heard that in actuality it was never a grass roots organization, it was founded as a front group to manipulate old people to gain legal benefits for the insurance industry, and that it was in fact founded through an insurance company. I could be wrong though, I heard it through Arfcom. Regardless of it's origin, it seems mainly intent on getting old folks more Federal money. Seems like all the old people I know turn 65 and immediately decide that funneling money to old people and their medical needs is the only legitimate function of government. |

They have quasi-socialist commercials on the Weather Channel in the AM with young kids stating 'let's fix social security and health care'...
