I decided against getting a Tantal, I just want a authentic AK74. So it looks like i'm back to square one, which receiver and parts kits are out there that are highly regarded?

ORF has sidefolder -74 kits.
The receiver you want is the NDS-2SF for a sidefolder kit.

get a new wood stock set from orf, then if you want the side folder get on from kvar, and get a nodak receiver
