Little bastards are all over my bathroom. Any one know a good way to kill them, they are the black ones. I have been stomping them with a sandal but they keep coming. |
Combat is a brand name I use, they make them for both indoor and outdoor use. |

I have the same problem with ants in my bathroom. We have lived in this house for 8 years and this is the first time we have ever had a bug problem. I found a limb from a tree in the front yard touching the roof of my house with a continuous line of the little bastards coming and going across it. I removed the limb and every other green thing touching my house. Then I cleaned the bathroom completely and sprayed lots of ant and roach killer. We still have a few, but not near as many as before. I am planning on bombing the house with combat bug bombs this afternoon. For me the key was finding and fixing their entry route into the house. |
I am thinking they are coming in from under the tub, its soft ground there and just had the bathroom retiled. |
Could be for sure, but look around and make sure you find the source or you will never get rid of them. |

Gather up a buch of caps from soda bottles and/or lids from jars. Mix up about a 50/50 mix of baking soda and something sticky-sweet like jam or jelly. Smear about a half teaspoon in each of the lids and caps and stick them in strategic locations both inside and outside your house. Something about the baking soda that doesnt aggree with the digestive tract in an ant.And they will cart it back to the ant hive for the queen as well. It seems to work as well as any of the Black Flag type bait-traps. It takes about three to four days, and the ants dissappear . Its about time to do it here at my house too. |
| Diazanion in either liquid or what I prefer, powdered form will wipe out the little buggers. They get it on their leg hairs and bring it back to the colony. Don't know if they still sell it tho, I stocked up on a ton of it a few years ago, great stuff, 1 quart makes like 96 gallons of spray. Newer stuff is weak and short lasting, and cost a lot more. Course I still have Chloridane?also, that stuff rocks!!!!The 50 cal of ant and termite killers. |
| Retiled??? sometimes they like the grout , it isnt white is it ? YOU must be known as "Chemical Oly" to get rid of them . much easier if you didnt usr white grout . Little black ones or reg. size black one ? the regs arent too bad . If they are the little "sugar ants" and if you used white grout well...? |
Sweet. I'll have to remember that. |

I have problems with ants, bad. I HIGHLY recommend a product called 'TERRO ant killer'! You get a bottle of the stuff and some cardboard squares. You put a drop of teh stuff on a cardboad square and place it were the ants will find it/them. They come eat the stuff and go back to the 'ant crib' and feed the others and they all die. TERRO is cheap, a couple of bucks. It works, it's safe, and it's easy to use. |
A big +1 for TERRO. That shit has gotten rid of ant colonies that the ORKIN man couldn't. Every now and then we get carpenter ants which are big black things that eat wood. I would stock little pieces of cardboard in hard to get to areas and dab the TERRO oooze on it. The ants would eat it and die within a week. |

www.terro.com/ Never heard of the stuff, next time I am going to try some Terro. |

You in an apartment or a house? If your'e in a house, go to the hardware store and get a can of the granules - it looks like a giant cannister of kraft parmesan cheese. Sprinkle it around your house. Get one of those pump sprayers that kill ants (and a bunch of other things) and spray it all along the oustside of your house. You can also get metal 'ant stakes' that you put into the ground around your house. If you have a basement, spray it along the interior walls and where the joists sit on the foundation. Then get some terro or pre-made ant traps and put them where you have ants -it also helps to put them near doorways and in windowsills. All this may sound like overkill, but it works like magic. When I first moved in I had an ant problem but I did everything here and have rarely seen an ant in 5 years. After the first couple years I didn't even bother with the inside ant traps. |
Or... BUGS!!! BUGS!!! BUGS!!! ARRRRRRGGGHHHH!!!

Terro is effective against "sugar ants". The kind that will swarm around Pepsi spills, or hard candy. The big black carpenter type ants prefer seeds or other vegatation, and usually don't go for Torro. By the way, I found that I had SEVERAL sugar ant colonies in and around my appartment. After a little research, I found that I could make a quart of Torro for the same price I could buy a bottle. Look at the active chemical, and you will see it is borax, or it's equivalent of boric acid. You can buy boric acid at Wal-Mart. (Health & Beauty aids isle) You can use corn syrup (Karo corn syrup, in the baking isle) Mix up some corn syrup and water. Stir in the boric acid. I spread that stuff all over the yard. Sugar ants swarmed for a day. The next day, no sign of them anywhere. Had to stay out of the yard until it rained, otherwise I would have become a sticky mess, and not in a good way. Dave |
