+1

That said, I like some of things they offer on their website.  Some of the authors and contributing editors have big egos, and it shows.  All in all, AOPA is a good clearinghouse of info for the GA community.  The flight training magazine is alright, but I thought it was better in the 90's.  Remember, they are a big lobbying group, and as someone already stated, you will get a lot of junk mail from them.

I think they have a special rate for new students.  Take advantage and see for yourself.  If you do not get the flight training mag, call them up and they will send you a free subscription.

+1 on the junk mail

I get both their magazines, and can usually find something interesting to read in each.

And quite a few jackasses. If it weren't for the legal insurance they offer I doubt if I'd ante up every year.  They like to tout their flight planning stuff but nothing beats www.fltplan.com and it's free and also has IAP's for download for free.  As for their AFD, well, you can get that for free on www.fltplan.com too, or www.airnav.com.
