just how exactly does, "the color of my fridge is a lighter white than my dishwasher, help!!!!" go 5 pages while, "im thinking of shooting myself, what do you think?" goes to page 2 with 3 views? really, when, at least what i think is a good solid topic comes along, it disappears and the shit floats to the top of the bowl. save my soul but i am sooooooooo looking forward to sarges new  |

When did the 4th of July become Pompous Dick Day? You guys pulling that Imbro mindreading/cybernetic personality analysis crap and proclaiming, based on your amazing powers, that "The sheeple don't want to yadda yadda bread and circuses yack yack their minds waaah waaah back to sleep blah blah blah" with the ill-concealed "We few, we few happy few, we band of gravely concerned wise men" subtext are making asses of yourselves. A couple of things to consider. First, a thread like "amnesty for killers of GIs" sputters because there are only so many possible attitudes toward the subject. You've got "That's bad," "That's good," and "That's OK for Iraqi soldiers, but no good for guerillas/insurgents." That's about it. Tell me, could we lesser beings have best demonstrated our seriousness by posting "+1," "Kill them all," or "  ?" Second, if you start a thread that dies, you either wrote a lousy post, picked a lousy title, or misjudged what interests other members. Suggesting that others' lack of interest in threads that interest you is a sign that they are frivolous carries with it a lethal dose of self-importance. Last, most people on here have a good handle on what's right and wrong with this country, and the direction we're headed, and opinions about what ought to be done. Failure to jump at every invitation to a session of morbid navel-gazing over old news is not an indication that people are ignorant, or are sheep, or are asleep at the wheel. Lots and lots of us are willing to take a pass on some of the brow-furrowing circle-jerks that are staged by the "serious" posters. |

... Thank goodness the search function works. On a positive note, I've read some really decent threads lately. Even participated in a few so it makes tracking them easier. You just have to wade through some crap. … My theory is that ARCOM is just busting at the seams these days, but even that doesn’t mean it’s a loser. One of the nicer features is the Hometown Forums. They have their own personality and if you refresh by “active topics” you can often stumble onto interesting threads in other states. … I’m the quintessential thread killer, so if you see a stupid thread, just IM me the link and I’ll snuff it. |
He isn't coming back. Ever. a few from here (jrzy, RikWriter, larryg) took a 1 week suspension to have him permabanned (like permanent this time). That was a week ago, those three are back again as of last night. So, might as well touch up the forumla.
