I'm actually looking forward to it. I'll revisit the thread next week and advise if I've pulled my hair out yet. [:D]

Aw, boo-hoo.

I'm 31 with Wifey but no kids, and almost as much gray as brown hair.

My kids (when they get here) will be afraid of men with dark hair....

OTOH, once it all goes gray a buzz-cut won't look so weird, which eliminates brushing.

I had grey hairs sprouting when I was 18, so does my son (Swampthing)....

Didn't get pube greys until recently....(47 now)

It is fucking stressful...but we put the stress on ourselves...I think...oh man, it's stressing me to think about it!!!

Shoo-fly is best.

(BTW, is there some wierd meaning to the "I like pie" quote?  I don't want to be saying something I don't mean.  I figure "I like pie!" is simply bizarre and non sequitur, but holds no further meaning.  Am I correct?)

I'm 57 years young now.  Retired Navy, 28 years service as enlisted to CPO then CWO, LDO LT.  Former DoD contractor, now university faculty member.

Helped Miz LWilde raise two kids.  I thought that was all over for us...but guess what? [shock] we are raising two of our grandkids (DON'T ASK!).  The seven year old girl is a rare beauty and on her way to having boyz lined up outside vying for her favors.  The five year old boy is on his way to becoming a middle linebacker like Ray Nitchke or Brian Bozworth [whacko]!

I had hoped to retire in about ten years. Can't to that now.

Yes fatherhood is a VERY stressful job.  I do feel your pain...I've been on heart meds for about six years now...and my next heart nuclear stress test is in two weeks.

Just hang in there and be patient and gentle with the little ones and Momma.  Yup...that IS why you are gray too...

No. This is where that team membership would benefit you.

OTOH, I don't get how folks just can't figure this one out on their own. It's so obvious! Think about it.

[s]Avoiding a more direct charge of "You cheapskate, why doncha put up the $20, you worthless freeloading troll!"[/s] Returning to the subject at hand...

Sgtar15 -
Since I still have the option (in theory) to not have kids, would you say they are worth the trouble and stress and hair change?

(I say "in theory", because Wifey really really wants to have some....)

Being a Dad is the easiest thing I have ever done. That's my 2 cents, I guess, as I have found it to come as natural as can be. Doesn't mean it's always been easy and I got plenty of grey hair after my first was born and ended up in a NICU, but it has sure been easier than being an MD. Probably helped that I was the oldest of 5 and babysat most of the kids in my neighborhood, taught swimming lessons, etc.
I love being a Dad BTW and it is probably the only thing I have ever done that I have never regretted. It helps alot that I have a great wife as well. Grandparenthood is not too far in my future and I am ready for that though I am not ready for my kids to be parents yet. If that makes any sense to you guys.

Yes...Family is alot of work, but you will become a member of a team that will kill, die, and do anything for you.  You will no the true experience of love and pride as you watch you kids grow.  You will spend hard days at work wondering why you work so hard...and come home to your 10 y.o. daughter whoi hugs you and thinks you are the greatest in the world.

You will watch you son turn into a man, evolve, and become a good person.

You will watch you children fall and get hurt.  ANd you will not move a muscle, knowing that they have to learn the same hard lessons as you will.  That is the hardest part...watching them try and fall, and knowing you can't always stop them from hurting.  But when they do succeed the whole family grows.

SO yes..kids are worth it.  It is the most stressful, expensive, ammo eating, hair pulling job that you will ever love.
