As much as I want to hate Ben Affleck he does a good job in that movie.

I think he's a good actor and better director.

I feel the same way about Afleck but have to admit I really liked "The Accountant"  too.

Pretty good in "The Town" too

Although I usually avoid his movies, I enjoyed The Accountant a lot.

I was kind of hoping the title was missing an F.....

So this thread is not about Star Blazers, then, eh? Fire wave motion cannon? No? Oh, well.

I liked the bit where he tells the Americans how Canadians pronounce "Toronto", because it's true

Just picked it up from the $5 bin at Walmart. Liked the interviews of the real people actually hiding with the Canadians better.
Fuck Pierre Trudeau.

He did a good job, and the plot was pretty good too.
I'd even watch it again, and for me to say that about a new movie is rare.

Dissappointed with title. Around here Argo is shorthand for "ah, go fuck yourself"

I thought he did a VERY good job of playing a bitter, cynical, world-weary Batman/Bruce Wayne in Dawn of Justice.

NOTE:  the theatrical release of BvS:DoJ sucked.  The 3-hour extended cut on Amazon is a VERY good movie and worth watching.

I enjoyed Argo. Interesting plot and characters mixed with a time and point in history that I've found fascinating.

Saw it in the theater.  I understand they took a few liberties in the interest of storytelling, but it's still a good movie.  I enjoyed it.

I liked it, and Affleck is a much better director than actor.

...but he was the bomb in Phantoms.

According to the Mitrokin archives, the Iranian "students" were paid thugs hired by an agent of the USSR.

Nearly replicating the same tactic used by the CIA to over throw PM Mosaddegh in the early fifties.

Ben Affleck is like Tom Cruise. I want to hate him, but I enjoy most of the movies he is in or directs.

Same for me. He's easily a better actor than Matt Damon. The only issue I have with Argo is that they had to throw in that stupid, totally fictionalized ending. If the Iranians had discovered that the hostages had made it onto the commercial jetliner (as the movie falsely depicts), it would have never gotten off the ground. Total BS ending. That did not happen. Another possible issue is the phone call the Iranian guard made to confirm the identity of Afflect's movie studio ties. I'm not 100% sure about that one, but, highly doubt that it happened with the phone ringing and them almost missing answering the call. This movie could have been much, much better without the added fictionalized BS to increase the dramatization, which did nothing but do the opposite for me. It was a good movie without the added crap.

I agree. It takes something away from the story when they throw crap in there that you know could not have happened in the real world. There are better ways to build suspense and drama than just making chit up.
