What a cool idea.  That book will definitely be on my coffee table August 2007.

Maybe this guy will even get an interview with some news or talk show and give 'normal' gun owners some exposure.

Note that the book comes out August 2007.

The pictures are all taken by the photographer, and as the book has already gone to the publishers he isn't taking any more pictures.

it's hard to tell in pictures like that, but i'd wager that it's pointed in front of her shin.  but once again, it's hard to tell.

myself and several friends from another site have done a few group pictures from when we've met up to go shooting - we stopped doing so because even though we're very careful with muzzle control, it always ends up looking like someone has a gun pointed at them.

Drew: Owning a firearm brings me some sort of balance. When I am angry at the world I find relief in dropping a clip into the air. And, at the same time, if the world threatens me or those I love, I find relief in the protection it gives me.

Sorry, can't look at the pic details now... but does it say that he lives in DC or that he lives in the DC area.

I often tell people that I live in the DC area, specially if the people who are not familiar with what Northern VA refers to (geographically).

I don't know about the pizza boxes, but he's got all the right guns in his collection.  Let's see: 2 AR's, 1 accurate bolt gun, 1 shotgun, several handguns of caliber starting with .4.

Yep, I'd call that the perfect starter kit.

That's what originally got me looking closely at the pic. The clean white room with a 2 foot stack of pizza boxes was just weird.

I mean, I might have a two foot stack of pizza boxes in the corner on any given day as well but the rest of my shithole of a house matches that corner.

just more proof that logic, reason, and common sense escape the anti-gun crowd.  for people that are so concerned with violence, they are awfully rash when dealing with viewpoints they don't agree with.

the fact that the anti-gun crowd is sending out death threats over a book that shows one of the many positive sides of gun ownership is reason enough to own firearms.

I understand you were curious about how one of our members heard about Armed America?
I stumbled across it and thought it was a very honest reporting of gun owners.
I believe you are being straight forward and showing us in the real light of day.
For the most part we are not tobacco chewing, cousin marrying, moonshine drinking hill billies.
We are a mainstream America who believes in the right to self defense and the sport of shooting.
A lot of us have had to hide our hobby from others.
When I worked in Corporate America I could not even mention guns for fear of being labeled a "gun nut"

The author, Kyle

Hi jrzy, Being honest about it was my primary concern. As far as I can
tell there are many books slanted one way or the other. I wanted to
avoid this and just let the people in the photos tell their own stories
without me saying anything.

The author, Kyle

I photographed everyone who volunteered who
I could physically get to -- to avoid any subconscious decision on my
part to photograph one person and not another because of what they had
to say. So, you get quite a cross section. From the Marine sniper to
people who had guns they'd inherited but never fired and never planned
to.

There were quite a few people who declined to be photographed for
reasons similar to the ones you mentioned.

You know it's funny you said that I said the same thing to somebody when i was or related when debating gun control. I said "What evil can a gun do." they said, "All kinds of stuff shoot up schools, people, murder, etc, etc, etc." I said, "You just thought of all of that and one of the concepts I've never ever heard of our thought of (Really hadn't), it just goes to show you that we're the problem, not guns." That slowed them down for a second.

Yea guys, hate to say it but people are the ones who devise the sick and twisted things in the world, and the Democrats paranoia stems from the fact that they have the sick and twisted thought perspective to imagine the kind of damage they could do with those guns so they imagine they should be banned, but see no problem with that being their immediate thought pattern when talking about guns.

Kind of funny how things work isn't it?

EDIT: I thought about having this discussion with my dad's new wife from conneticut "What do you think would happen if I left an Machine Gun on this table?" and she'd immediately go "Well someone could steal it or do something bad with it, etc, etc, etc,." and that might be the time I'd say "Right, because people are evil, but if there was no man that gun would sit there until the end of time and never harm a soul, shows you were the REAL problem lies."

EDIT (again): Well I figured I should finish that statement just about, which is why in effect we need harsher laws to repel crime, period, I told my mom last night "Better gun control would be much harsher laws for crimes committed with them."
