I'm planning on building myself a AR pistol. I plan on building it from the ground up on a stripped lower and upper. My question is can I install a buffer tube that I have lying around from a rifle that I changed the buffer tube and stock on? It won't have the stock on it, just the rail and detents that the stock would ride on.

All I can say is MAKE SURE that your lower is registered as a pistol.

Good luck.

According to ATF FTB Agent Kingery, no, you cannot. The buffer tube must be a pistol tube, not redily capable of accepting a stock. You can write to the FTB and ask for that in writing if you want. My phone conversation with him was enough for me.
