I load the magazine, install it, operate the charging handle , a round strips off the magazine , pull trigger firearm discharges round the bolt goes back strips off another round but trigger is not rest and live round is in chamber. I then pull charging handle back about 1.5 inches and trigger resets gun will then fire again. What is the problem here there are so many symptoms between gas pressure buffer springs. I'm thinking its a trigger problem does anyone have any suggestions other than that gun has been throughly cleaned and input is appreciated

Hammer spring in upside down?

I'd uninstall the trigger, check the springs etc and reinstall.

Hammer follow?

Had this EXACT same problem a few weeks ago in my dad's Eagle Arms.  Bought new triggers.

ETA - some smith did a "trigger job" on it a while back.  He had removed too much material and the hammer was simply falling when the trigger was released (instead of catching at second point).  It was butchered up pretty good.

Reset or hammer follow? I don't think you know what trigger reset is.

Unload rifle. Make sure unloaded. Cock hammer. Pull trigger and KEEP HOLDING trigger. Pull charging handle back all the way, let it go forward. Verify hammer is held back. Now let off trigger until you hear a click. Pull trigger, hammer should drop. Now tell us what didn't work.

Or follow advice and just rebuild the trigger properly.

The disconnector also has a little spring beneath it.  If that spring is missing (or perhaps installed upside down) the disco probably won't work so well either.

Thanks for all your input I'll check these things and try to determine what the problem was. And let everyone know. I had a feeling it was a trigger problem. As for my first post in 3 yrs I haven't had to as most problems are already posted I just could not find this problem in the forum. This is the third AR I've built but first time I have had this issue thanx again

If there was only a forum that could address these kind of issues. What a world that would be.

Had a similar problem when a primer blew and was under the trigger area moving around.   Found it sort of crazy, but if it was working fine until recently, without any changes, it could be that simple.

curiosity overwhelms me. ...built 3 Ar's yet a function check before firing a round in one was not done?

Function check is done after anytime the bcg comes out of my rifle. I guess Uncle Sam drilled that in my head.

The gun worked fine the last I shot it. So yes function check was performed and Uncle Sam drilled my head as well. That's where I learned to love 35365 my weapon in the service.  I do thank everyone for their feedback and thankfully the problem is solved.  You reinforced what I thought was the problem to begin with and needed a second opinion I don't really know what the problem was in there as everything looked good so I just replaced the trigger and all the springs now she cycles fine so something was definitely wrong in there.   Thanks again
