[ARCHIVED THREAD] - ATF 41P Final Rule (Page 1 of 11)
|
This final rule was signed by the Attorney General on January 4, 2016. It is effective 180 days
after date of publication in the Federal Register. The final rule published in the Federal Register may differ slightly from this version as a result of Federal Register formatting. Well, that is definitely a sunny spot in this giant shit sandwich. No CLEO sig is a nice surprise. Having to notify them isn't the end of the world. Whole thing sucks, but could have sucked a lot worse. |

Well, this sucks.
Always loved showing first time suppressor owners how easy the process is, and have probably sold to hundreds of first time buyers the last year, setting up trusts, notarizing them, and helping them pick out their first can. It's definitely disappointing to hear that there will be yet more hoops to jump through, on something that shouldn't be regulated in the first place. EDIT: For everyone on Mobile. Trusts will have to go through the same BS as Individuals, but the CLEO Signature Requirement has been removed across the board. Everyone on the trust will now have to get Passport Photos and Fingerprint Cards. |

Quoted: So now even trusts have to go to CLEO? Yes, with Obama being a giant http://www.learnersdictionary.com/audio?file=cocksu01&format=mp3&word=cocksucker&pron=%CB%88k%C9%91%CB%90k%CB%8Cs%CA%8Ck%C9%9A# |

Need to submit a shitload of Forms 1, and buy a bunch of cans now, within the next 6 months, if so. |

So now even trusts have to go to CLEO? If I'm reading correctly, not only the trust but the to be defined application, finger prints and photos of everyone on the trusts. How many crimes have been committed by people using legally owned NFA items again? 2? 3? It's so statistically small it's not even worth counting. Fucking ridiculous |

The way I read it is they eliminated the CLEO signature! Quoted:

If true and CLEO Sig is not required, are fingerprints still required for all on trust? This has always been my biggest gripe as I am fortunate enough to live in an area where CLEO signs without question, but having to have my wife and son submit fingerprints is what really doesn't sit well with me. |

So, does this shit mean that anyone on my trust who can possess its NFA items (in this case not just me, but my wife and brother as well) have to provide prints and photos? Need to submit a shitload of Forms 1, and buy a bunch of cans now, within the next 6 months, if so. Quoted:

I'm no lawyer, but thats how I read it. We have 6 months before we are stuck reminiscing about the good old days

Two hundred and how many pages????
They changed Cleo signoff to Cleo notification? That's about as far as I got at the moment... Well that and responsible peeps have to pics and prints, but if the Cleo isn't required to sign off is that a problem now? haven't read beyond that... |

I bet the CLEOs will appreciate getting a bunch of extra mail for these applications. I bet most end up in File 13 with a great deal of concern for your personal information.
It could have been worse without eliminating the CLEO requirement but still a big PITA. FBHO FNFATAC |
