I'm a native Houstonian and gave up on the Astro's, Oilers and Aeros years ago,
(don't care about basketball) this town will never fully support any of those clubs,
yes when there doing ok, the local news jump on the band wagon and say go get'm
but when there not doing so good all you here is get rid of this player or coach, or
get rid of them all, don't belive me, check the record.......

The Oilers at one time had the most talented football team in the NFL, what happen ?
The onwer of the team could'nt give a shit and look what happend, the team left....
The old Aeros, same thing, at one time they had all three of the Howes family,
Gordie, Mark and Neal. What happend ? same thing, the owner and town did'nt give
a shit. Team gone But wait they have the new Houston Aeros. A second rate High school
hockey team in reality...

The Astro's, lets see... they had to bribe a retired New York Yankee into playing for the
home town team by a guilt trip for the hometown to give them a chance....
Don't belive me yet? just wait. The Astros will choke, and Rodger Clemens will go back
into retirement and then the local news stations will start the blame game all over again.

WTF?

The Astros have some of the biggest crowds in the league.  Constant ever since MM Park opened.  Oilers best in the league?  They have the biggest choke ever to Buffalo.  Bud Adams is a PRICK!

The Texans suck and they still have huge support and love after 4 years.  Firing coaches is a fact of life in Pro sports.  If you don;t like it then you don;t like pro sports.

In Houston sports we are used to hardcore chokes. Oilers, Phi Slama jama, Astros in playoffs previous to last year.

I'm also a native Houstonian, living in NYC.  You should see the trash the newspapers wrote/are writing  about the Yankees after they lost...but just 2 days before, there was literally 12 pages on how amazing they were

Thats one of the things I am saying, Houston has had more pro teams leave the city than any
other city because of idiots. On those teams choking, thats another. It seam they always do.
On the Astros, gee I remember a couple of years ago they were even talking about leaving.
The town of Houston will never learn. Every other team looks at building a team over a couple
years on player retention and the system works. Look at the Yankees, they built there team
over years and look at the future. The Astros have never done that, when they get a good player
there not smart enough to hang on to them, there always traded for one or two B players,
none of the ball clubs have never really step upped to plate when it comes to salary, look
what happend to Nolan Ryan, The Astros pissed and moaned over salary and looked what
happend, he went to the Rangers and had the best two years of his career. The list is long
on player names on the same subjet.

The City of Houston cannot keep teams?  When have you been here last?  We have 3 NEW facilities including the BEST stadium in the NFL, and last put up the Toyota center with MM Park being the first to be built.

BTW the Yankees have spent ungodly amounts ofmoney and they have zero future.  We offered Beltran over 100 mil and he snubbed us.  We gave Rocket 18 mil for one year.  Your just uninformed dude.  When did you leave? No Houston teams are going anywhere anytime soon buddy.

The only thing e have lost is the oilers.  You can't count the freakin Aeros cause come on, this is TX.

What is  this being Texas have to do with the Aeros ? its still a pro team or not ?
On the Rocket, yea they gave him 18 Mil, but look what it took besides that, A radio
station hounded him a played on him the "Hometown lost boy effect", the only good
thing it really pissed off the Yankees !, granted this town built new stadiums but look
at the reason why, it was not on seating capacity, the Astrodome has more than Reliant,
it was because the owners of those teams wanted a bigger cut on the consessions, that
was one of there excuses why they could'nt keep up with the salaries of the other ball
clubs. One or two players don't make a team, the Astors have maybe five outstading
players, and thats real sad when they have to get one from retirement not when they
were at the begining or the height of there career, what I'm saying in reality, the owners
that we have had in Houston are only in it for the dollar, but in this day when it comes
to pro sports you have to spend alot of money to make money, as in paying for the right
players and it will pay off on a Championship, not more money on a new stadium for
more tax revenue......

I could not argue with his logic. I didn't intend to be mean.

We don;t support teams? We have 3 new stadiums
We don't pay players ?? Clemens 18 mil Baggy 18 mil Astros salary is higher than average
We only have 5 good players? Yeah thats how we made it to the NLCS 2 years in a row.

I'm a Cards fan. Lifelong fan. I picked the Astros in this series. In the post season it goes to the team with the best pitching. The Astros have the better pitching. That and that hack Tony LaRussa, when he's not kissing McGwire's steroid filled ass, can't win the big one. He lucked out in 89.

Former Houstonian here.  Yes, being a Houston sports team fan has been a tough road over the years.  But other than that and agreeing that Bud Adams is a prick, I disagree with about everything else Pointtarget said.

I would not count them out that easy.  When you have that line up of bats anything can happen.  Low scoring games is just not their style of ball and their bullpen is hurting.

If they get it back to STL they will take it I think. Tommorow's game is key.

I think Pettitte will have a Quality start on Mon.

I called a Houston win in the NLCS right after the season ended because I thought they were on a roll at the end of the season and had better pitching than STL.

The line up of bats has boiled down to one, Puljos. Walker is hurt, no Rolen, and now no Sanders. Edmonds is a great defensive guy, but he's an 80s style power hitter. He either hits a bomb or strikes out, it seems.

Oh and you're right the Cards have solid starting pitching and a solid closer, but the in between guys suck. Another weakness.  Houston in 6. The last game in Busch will be a loss.
