What do you think the odds Assault Weapons Ban Reauthorization Act of 2008 will pass?

and why?

Barrak- Yes, why wouldn't he?

Mccain- 50\50.

I don't think they'll have enough support...JMO.

..I sure hope not, anyway...

I don't think it will get past Congress.  But if it does, Barak will sign it.  I have hope that McCain would not, but I am not sure.

It may in some form I suppose. I don't really see the last four years of sales not getting accommodated.

Somewhere between zero and none. There just isn't enough support for it. I don't even think it will ever make it far enough to come up for a vote. It'll die in committee just like 2007's proposed ban did.

It will go as far as the "law enforcement protection act" did.

No where.

If Obama wins and they bring in enough liberal Democrats, then it's a done deal.  Right now it's dead in the water because the Democrats don't want to jeopardize the relatively conservative Democrats they elected to Congress in 2006 (who, in many cases were more conservative than the Republican incumbents they defeated).  Once they have a liberal/leftist majority, these useful idiots become expendable so the full panoply of the socialist agenda will come out.

Gun control.
Iraq withdrawal.
Socialized healthcare.
Fairness doctrine.
Prosecutions on Bush administration officials for war crimes.
Nationalization of the oil industry.

i don't think there is enough support as-is, but the good ruling we are about to get from SCOTUS is reall gonna take the wind out of the anti's sails.

Where do you people get this type of thing.  McCain is quite pro gun.  Just because he's not as conservative on other issues doesn't mean he has slipped here.

PS: there will be no ban in an election year!

not in '08 . . .

but if B Hussein Obama wins the election in Nov., then . . .

I agree. It's way too risky for any candidate, Democrap or Republican.

I think within the next 4 years there will be some type of ban on firearms the general public view as evil (mostly b/c of media/movie hype).

I don't see anyway possible the '08 Reauth. or whatever that was posted about yesterday will pass.

And nothing in an election year unless it can be kept out of the news and the enactment date is a year or two out.

1 in 10 it passes.  But it would be disastrous if it did.  I see a Dem controlled house/senate/white house for the foreseeable future.

2008? No.

2009 with McCain as POTUS w/ a Democrat controlled Congress?  Maybe.

2009 with Obama as POTUS w/ a Democrat controlled Congress? Likely.

If you want something that may be affected/banned, buy it now or as soon as you can and join the NRA & GOA.

True.

We live in a increasingly liberal country. Scary stuff.

I voted no due to it's an election year.

Don't tell my wife though. I've convinced her a  ne AWB is coming to justify all of my recent & future purchases.

Nothing will happen this year.  In 2009, with 58 Dem senators, a 50 or 60 seat Congressional majority, and President Obama, it's possible, if not probable.

By the grace of God, I hope not.

Obama is a scary piece of shit and I can't believe he has a following. Well then again, even Satan has a following, but I digress.

Obama will do whatever he can to pass one. Since where he grew up is a shithole, that must mean we need to ban guns for everyone's safety, right?

Political suicide.

Even they know that many many many more people have EBR's now and they have become "almost" mainstream with a lot of shooters and hunters.

IMHO it is highly unlikely this year.  Its an election year and guns are not an election issue as much as the folks at the Brady Group would like to make them.

Congress also has horrible ratings right now.  The D's are talking about nationalizing the oil industry and taking profits from oil companies.  Their socialist agenda is focused on the hot items out there right now.  Even still they do nothing and because of this their ratings absolutely suck.

Do you think that passing a AWB right before a General Election will help?  Even after the election I doubt they will have much interest in much other than holiday recesses and a lot of political talk about oil, Iraq, Iran, and the new president.  Plus they are going to want to get all the pork they can get if some of them are lame ducks.

By the time they are starting the new congress you will have a new president with his agenda to deal with.  We'll see where that takes us in early 09'.

No.  We'll see it in 2009 or 2010.  Even the Dims won't have enough time in 2008.

Watch the nationwide election results carefully.  On election night, if the libtard media starts crowing that the Dims have a filibuster-proof majority in the senate, rest assured that total gun control will be forthcoming very soon.

Since 9/11 no one really wants to ban firearms. Especially since its most likely Heller will go our way, it will make the ban harder to pass.

Wrong, Barak Hussien Obama grew up in quite a nice upper middle class area in Hawaii. He was raised by SHITHEADS both his mommy and his grandparents (her parents) were big time followers of communists.

Remember know your enemy and know him well.
