Started a little while ago. The A/C kicks on and it makes a loud banging noise in the house and lights flicker a little bit.

Its a heat pump just to be specific if it matters.

I had the start capacitor replaced a couple of years ago.

The system is MAYBE 7 years old.

Any idea?

Thanks

ac compressor is going out. Need to check pressures & test voltage on startup.

this will help some, but only for a short while.

when is the last time you had maintance done on your system?

only by testing the system correctly will you know for sure, but my guess would be that you might start shopping for a system.

We don't have to worry about ours going off and coming back on...They run pretty much the whole day and part of the night!

Our lows for tonight and the next 14 nights is the mid 80's and the high in the 102-104* range but when you add the heat index to it the real temp will be pushing 115*.
