Who wrote the Navy lawyers parts?

Tom Cruise comes across like a lawyer wearing a costume who has NO idea of military protocal, procedure, or anything... the others are not much better. His interaction with the Marines he's defending is utterly laughable!!!  I love the part when he pisses off the one defendent and he says "Whatever happened to saluting an officer when he leaves the room?" WTF??? Coming to attention yes....but the Marine was indoors, uncovered, (not wearing a duty belt), and Cruise was in civvies!!!!  Yeah, maybe the guard would salute him as he walked by....but not the Marine he was yelling at.

Sorry, just a rant.....stupid movie is on BRAVO right now and  there was nothing else worth watching.....and other than a few good soundbites....mostly by Marines OTHER than the Marine lawyers... anyone else consider this movie a steaming pile???

I need a drink.

You failed to mention that prisoners are not permitted the privilege of saluting.

Don't get so worked up, it's just a movie. FWIW, I thought the squid zero's were portrayed pretty accurately. Quasi military in faggoty white uniforms.

Rob Reiner hates the military and he shows his colors with this film.  The hero is a service-hating insubordinate jackass who continually bucks what he sees as a "flawed and brutal" system.

The honor-driven, disciplined Marine officers who expect that some military courtesy be rendered are portrayed as either stupid or downright evil.  Reiner apparently believes (like many liberals) that servicemen just snap their heels and follow orders even when given an order that violates everything they have ever been taught.  And let's face it, colonels are political beings, they know damn well that giving an order so flagrantly illegal and unethical will be reported by somebody and that just can't be swept under the rug.

And the fucking movie sucked.
