So I went to Wal-Mart last night (Saturday) after watching "I Am Legend." (At the theater, had a brief hair on the back of my neck raising moment as I went through the door while carrying with a cop just inside. I was legal and had my permit with me, but for some reason I stressed slightly...) Equipment: Blue jeans (Chaps), black T-shirt (Hanes), pullover hoodie sweatshirt (Gap), Blackhawk Sherpa CQC holster (Is that what its called?), Sig 229 .40 (just got it.. love it..), some kind of defensive ammo (I forget which.) Store was packed. The legendary Saturday night Wal-Mart effect was definitely present. Door checker was looking at these two black girls, one of which was stating "We didn't steal nuffing!" Went and did my food shopping... tried to get ingredients for a marinade I heard about... then, following the Wal-Mart rule I headed to the firearms section. Picked up a box each of 100 rd .40 and .45 WWB and a box each of 50 rd .40 and .45 WWB Personal Protection ammo. (When did Winchester start making a WWB defensive ammo?) Had a long discussion with the gun clerk... an older fellow... He said "You sure must shoot a lot!" to which I replied "yeah, 1100 rds of 5.56 Mon-Wed of this week." Then he asks... "I'm thinking about getting a pistol for me and my wife.. but I want something easy to handle... will 9mm work? or should I get a .38 or .380? What do you recommend?" My response "9mm will do just fine. Get a S&W M&P 9mm and some good defensive ammo and you and your wife will do fine." His response "yeah, i'd keep it in my glovebox. I might get a shotgun like an 870 for the home though... The intimidation factor from racking the slide is good for scaring burglars." Me: "Yeah, it sure is." ![]() Didn't get checked on the way out... Went back today to pick up the vegetable oil that I forgot... Wal-Mart ruled another box each of 100 in .40 and .45 and bought some big tupperware things to store ammo in my garage. The clerk: "Since the tupperware is unbagged, please show your receipt to the door checker." Got to the door.. a nice black lady let me go in front of her since I had so much in my arms.... door checker took a quick glance at my receipt, handed it back and I went to the car. |
That's what you had a problem with in his post?
