I have a bayonet that has been sitting in a drawer for many years. I've alway assumed it was for an AR/M16 but never had it on one. I finally have a toy with a bayo lug but the "loop" on the bayo does not fit over the f/h. It's a standard A2 birdcage type. Do you have to take of the f/h to install the bayo? That doesn't sound right but I have never had to do it before. Or do I just have the wrong bayonet?

off the top of my head i think the "sawback" m4 is for the m1 carbine. mike |

Ah. When I bought it, the M-1 Carbine part was not in the discription. 2whiskeyP Yours looks very simmiliar to mine. |

I measured mine and the overall length is the same as the picture. The back where it hooks on to the lug looks a little shallower on mine, there is also a release that make it let go of the lug on the front of the handle, opposite side of the f/h. Also the dims of the loop are diff. It looks like about 3/4 in ID and just about an inch OD. Looks like this might be a M1 bayo as well. The sheath says USM8A1 TWB |
| I just bought an M7 from Natchez. The sheath is marked M10 with no marks on the bayonet itself. And I just checked. It fits over an A2, Phantom and Vortex. |
My sheath has the same markings. But I believe that the M8A1 will also fit the M1 Carbine. I sold mine so I can't look at it to verify. |
