Maybe I'm remembering wrong but does anyone recall Smith & Wesson taking a shit on gun owners in the early 2000's? If I remember right it had something to do with gun locks or some shit. I just remember getting really pissed off at them and not interested in buying anything from them. They did some heavy deepthroating with the feds if I remember correctly. Then they did some kind of serious backtracking when gun sales fell to shit. Seems like everybody has either forgotten that or forgiven them for it. I have done neither. I have bought one S&W pistol and it was in the early 90's. An .38 Airweight for the wife. I like some of their products but can't seem to get past what they did. Most folks seem to really be in love with S&W. Just curious. Maybe I'm wrong. Prove it.

I think they were sold offer after that little stunt killed their sales. New owners shit canned those pro gov policies.

Their ownership supported the Brady Bill. Thus the Hillary hole.

They need to lose that stupid fucking feature that no one uses and decreases the value of their guns. And I'm sick of seeing pics of S&W revolvers from the right side only.

I was in high school and likely didn't care at the time.

So is that a reason to give them a pass and buy their products now? Just curious.

And I'm sure there were others. I just happen to remember S&W for some reason. I think they were the first. Even before it was required.

I don't care for their revolvers these days. They are ugly. They went from pinned barrels to those shrouded abortions. And they still have that ridiculous hole in the side plate above the latch.

SW now is OK in my book, they did a 180 like Ruger did.  Ruger didn't used to sell factory 20 rd mags, LOL

Now both Ruger and SW sell the evil black rifle

S&W has a long and rich history - it's an old, historic company.  There are a few good books written on it.

The Business Insider link touches on some details, but the agreement was not "voluntary". The left was planning to assault to the entire industry via lawsuits and the Clinton Justice Department was going to aid in that effort. S&W was given a choice of complying or being sued into bankruptcy.

The 2005 Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act put and end to that scheme.
