. . . on some of the Yugo 7.62 at AIM and I realized something.
I don't like shooting the SKS all that much. Some of it is the ammo, the wolf and Golden Tiger is just crappy. Solid strikes that don't go bang, deep primers, etc. But do I also not like the rifle? The trigger is terrible. The wood of the stock is not all that nice, perhaps if I went so far as to put it into a new stock? But all the ATI stocks just . . . make me want to puke. Have you done anything to make your SKS more appealing? Will spending more on ammunition that I spent on the gun fill some of that gap? |

Sold it ![]() I've had my SKS for about 20 years and maybe put 200 round through it...replaced with a garand as my wood-stocked rifle. The garand I will probably keep forever and/or pass down to my kids |

I have not been hitting the range the way I did a while back, so that will last me . . . a considerable amount of time. |

my sks is the gun i shoot most. I have never had an ftf with it after probably a couple thousand rounds. All wolf military classic or whatever . Maybe it's your gun. I shortened the stock on mine about two inches for comfort. helped with that front heavy feel. What are you? A midget? |

Contemplating getting rid of the gernade launcher and sight, looked for a comp or flash hider of some kind, but never felt good about one. Kinda like the stock . . . perhaps I will take the time to pull the stock off and really re-finish it this winter. |

NNNOOOOOOOOOOOO....ITS NOT WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
O, AIM ammo,nvm
The SKS I have is my "beater rifle" (i like to shoot it in my undies while im drunk(why i call it that). I took some tuck tape and CUSTOM(thats right custom) fitted the action to my ati SEAL stock. It helped alittle with accuracy, but nothing major That ammo wont do shit but make you wear your gas system out, stay clear of it unless youre using it for SHTF with a extra gas tube/cylinder (jmo) |

You could look into getting an SGWorks bullpup kit for your SKS. That could make it more fun. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v669/tom99999/Bullpup/100_1038.jpg A whole litter of kittens just died. |

Ain't it cool? http://sgworks.com/ They just got all the parts from their manufacturing and started shipping last week. It's going to take them some time to get through all the pre-orders. Last I heard, about 10 weeks. They are a mom-and-pop operation, and the product is getting GREAT reviews, so I can wait a little bit longer! here is one from weaponeer. One of the guys at sksforum.com got one, and had it at the range this morning. Can't wait to get mine! |

Sounds like you need an AK. is AK ammo finally cheap again? AIM has that Yugo surplus for $179 / 1120rds, but it's corrosive. They have Wolf 7.62x39 FMJ for $199/1000. Better than it has been, but not as cheap as it used to be. I wish it would go back down.

The SKS is absolute shit. Sorry.
Top ejecting chinese peasant weapon. That's about as low shelf as it gets. Next up is a pointed stick! I remember my mom driving by the gun shop and seeing them advertised on the sign for $79. I had already shot my uncles, and I thougt that was a pretty steep price for it. |

I remember the days of the $80 Chinese SKS's too. IMHO at that price they were a steal...better than the cheap Mosins of today. However, at todays' prices...the SKS is not so great. |

if it gets much cheaper I'm going to be really tempted to finally get an AK tHE sAIGA /iZMASH rIMFIRE akm'S WILL BE A BIG HIT ! I have a WASR underfolder.... but I'll probably sell it after I get the above bullpup stock working. Will need a few more magazines, and a grinder to modify the bolt so the mags are removable with the bolt closed. Whatever shortcomings the SKS has, it's an absolutely bulletproof weapon. They're even simpler than an AK, as unpossible as that sounds. |
