Does the mount that comes from the factory hold tight to the gun?
The reason I ask is because I was gonna order one from larue with the mount but they have some at the local gun shop and I hate to wait.
Thanks

tag to know. my brother is being issued an m16a4 and an Acog before deploying (expecting to engage in combat... odd for mx units) and I want him to have the best... he already has my push dagger and a switchblade I gave him.

I've never had any problems with the factory mount, even on the AR10.

+1, the factory mount works just fine!

The Larue mounts Look sweeter & remove/Connect with less effort, But not necessary for most.

Ive never had a problem with it if it stays on and tight. If you plan to take it off and put it on I would get a Larue right away

Factory mount is fine, myself I use the Larue products I just like them alot. As far as a wait goes, I ordered an Aimpoint a few weeks back and it was at my door in 7 calander days. I am sure you can step it up a little if you went with priority shipping.

Consider the tax into you cost factor as well.

lock tight for anything that screws onto your weapon.

Go with LaRue "if" you are going to take the scope off and put it back and take it off and put it back..........
Issue mounts work fine "BUT" is the scope is taken off the rifle you will have to rezero.
As for being issued an Acog by the GOV. The scope will be wire tied to the rifle. Even a LaRue can be blown off the rifle by an IED.

I use LaRue, I use/used it hard in the sand box. But if I was not going to remove the scope from the rifle the Acog mount works fine.
Look in EE and find the Acog you want. Lots of great deal to be had.

Good luck!
