Can someone tell me why this thing has to be updated every other time I restart my PC? I mean, for god sake, it's a friggin video player - how many times do things change in video codecs that it has to be updated every week?

I almost suspect it's just a cover for trying to trick you into loading McAfee Antivirus.

These days, you almost don't need it. Only on rare occasion will I follow a link to some local TV news site, that still uses Flash for their video.

Honestly, you can probably just uninstall it and I doubt you'd notice.

Yeah I haven't installed flash player on a computer in probably the past 4-5 years.  If you are using a modern browser (don't kill me, but I am using Edge) then I don't really see why you would even need flash player.

When you go to download the update, on the one screen does it say something like

"Adobe is installed but disabled"

I had that issue with mine....

Flash is not a video player. Its a programmable plugin that does much more than play videos. Its been a constant vector for malware since it's inception because of its programmable nature.

Because it makes malware writers job a hell of a lot easier.  Get rid of it.

Flash developers are lazy retards and have been for 20 years.  It is the DNC of software, there just isn't hope.

Because it's a hacker/malware/virus writers wet dream.  Software that updates like that is usually because they are constantly plugging vulnerabilities.
