In memorial believers proclaim His death each time we participate in the Lord's Supper. The cross is behind us and the cross is before us. Take up your cross. Jesus said, follow me. John 8:12 NRSV-CI ...Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life. Jesus is alive. He is our living hope! Thank you, Jesus, you are the Light of the world. The cross is where I first met him with my sin (the revelation of the cross). Yes, He loves us. However, I don't personally see him on that cross any longer. He always lives for us and makes intercession for us. You're right, sir. We are to take up our cross and follow Him. Truly, He loves you! Hebrews 12:2 NRSV-CI looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who for the sake of the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God. We are to think on these things... Ephesians 2:4-6 NRSV-CI But God, who is rich in mercy, out of the great love with which he loved us even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ —by grace you have been saved—and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,... Colossians 3:1 NRSV-CI So if you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Oh, LORD thank you for the cross. Yes, He took our place (His mercy, His judgment, His justice), and paid the cost we could not pay. Jesus died for my sin personally. God's gift for the world. I know there are different perspectives. A little more on mine. I still see Jesus suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane. Suffering the scourging, the crowning with thorns, the carrying of the cross, the crucifixion, and hours suffering on the cross. Jesus suffering is interwoven as part of our daily prayers and daily thoughts. It's humbling. The Love he has for us. The sacrifice. "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!" |

Yes, Amen. It is humbling! Thank you Jesus for your love that never fails! We can know Him through His death, burial and resurrection. Philippians 3:10-11 NRSV-CI I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the sharing of his sufferings by becoming like him in his death, if somehow I may attain the resurrection from the dead. I could think on these things all day! Have a good day my friend. I'm taking my mom for an appointment now.

Blessings for you and your Mom. In Catholic Mass one of the most important prayers (at least to me) is the second to final prayer said by all (often sung), just before receiving Communion: Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, grant us peace. This prayer uses the words of John The Baptist as he announces the appearance of Jesus at his Baptism, the beginning of his public ministry, and that he is The Lamb of God! Then the final prayer said by all before Communion is: Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed. The words of the Roman Centurion. The outsider asking for healing. The sacrifice of the Lamb of God heals us. On my Mom's side of the family many were named after John the Baptist. Sometimes just Giovanni is found in old records and sometimes the middle name Battista is included. They thought very highly of him. Maybe knowing they too were not worthy to untie the strap of Jesus' sandals made John a perfect name for them to choose. Honor, unworthiness, and rejoicing in one name. |

I forgot to add that today is Tuesday and the five meditations for Tuesday Rosary are The Sorrowful Mysteries The Agony in the Garden The Scourging at the Pillar The Crowning with Thorns The Carrying of the Cross The Crucifixion The focus is on the suffering of Jesus. Not the dead Jesus. The suffering of Jesus for us. The suffering Jesus experienced for us was because he Loves us. Jesus is on the cross because he Loves us and that is what we are experiencing when he see him there. Jesus Loves us. Remove Jesus from the cross and you might not intensely feel all the suffering or the Love. It might become a symbol one step further away. |
